Cabinetwork

Like my tables, I make cabinets in a variety of air dried local woods. In designing a piece form flows from function, but I also aim to relate the work in hand to the kind of furniture and room setting that the cabinet will be used in. My preferred styles encompass the relative simplicity of Shaker furniture and work from the English Arts and Crafts movement with more contemporary organic design.

Elegant lines, simple but distinctive detail, hand cut dovetails, mortice and tennon joinery characterize the work. Finishes are generally hard wearing, deep penetrating oils, followed with paste wax for an enduring lustre.
